Welcome to the Gary Miller Reference Page.
There are many websites with mini biographies about Dr Miller, but most of these websites owners have never met or spoke with Dr Miller and as such their information is wrong.
Here are some facts about Dr Gary Miller:
The audio material you'll find on this web site has been recorded into MP3 format by me, from sources I have gathered over time and from different places. This site isn't meant to be a creme de la crop of Islamic Dialogue, rather it is simply a collection of material for anybody who is interested in such things. Therefore this site is for Christians and Muslims alike since this is the main subject matter of a bulk of the material, but it's also for anybody who is interested in such dialogue, or for those who wish to better understand the Muslim position on Christianity.
Please, do not attempt to search for Dr Gary Miller. As stated above, he is not active in this kind of thing today and he does not make or distribute recordings of his lectures. Please also do not contact me asking for Dr Gary Miller's details, I will not give them to you.
The material presented here is far from a complete collection of works by Dr Gary Miller. There are many, many lectures, debates and writings Gary Miller has delivered. The problem of course is that much of this material was from the mid to late eighties (up until the late nineties as far as I know), at which time the Internet was not so readily available for uploading multimedia files for others to download, nor was it really used as an "information superhighway" (to use what today seems like a term belonging to the last decade). As it stands then, I am always looking for more and more of his contributions in whatever shape or form they come in, be they audio lectures, video, articles, etc., and as such if you happen to:
Many of the files you'll find here were recorded from either video tapes or cassette tapes. These tapes came from different suppliers some of which were in the UK, Australia, Canada, US etc. The most frustrating thing I find is when I have a tape (take the lecture on Christian Evangelism for example) where the second side begins skipping a bit from where the first side ended, or when the tape/lecture ends in the middle of a key point. You will find occurrences such as these on a small number of material that is currently available here, I assure you I have taken every care in transferring these files but I can do nothing about such occurrences. Such occurrences are the fault of careless suppliers who don't realise that the material eventually gets passed around the globe so much so that it covers (or seems to cover) the original full length/good quality material it was first recorded from. This is the reason why I always, wherever I could, transferred the material from a videotape rather than a cassette tape. So though I empathise with your frustration at "hacked lectures" I can do nothing about it.
I have seen various people on the Internet who have transcribed some of his lectures and made them available as text. Whilst this is all well and good I have seen problems where the transcriber makes a simple mistake (for example Elisha - Elijah), and this article is picked up and read by others who point out "Gary Miller made a serious mistake!".
To the transcribers, I'd like to ask you to consider your transcriptions carefully and make it clear that the document was written by you and not by Gary Miller. To the people who host such content on their websites I'd like to ask you to do the same; make it clear that any mistakes in the transcription are most probably mistakes of the transcriber, as Gary Miller is not the author of those documents. To the critics I'd like to ask you to consider that the man is not around to defend himself. So whatever quibbles you have with something he said, or something he is quoted to have said (maybe you're reading a transcription of one of his lectures written by someone else) you should first be sure that he said this thing you have a problem with before you go trumpeting up and down that he made a mistake (as I have seen a number of times in certain forums). Of course everybody makes mistakes, but it is also true that sometimes people are determined to prove certain things based on an impression even if they know better.
Though some of the lectures listed below have the same name, I assure you that there is something different and useful in each. Still I find, that whenever I listen to a lecture I've heard before I always find something new. They contain a wealth of information, some of which requires a lot of thinking through. I encourage you to verify and research the content of the material presented - test it's veracity and make sure the facts presented are correct.
Currently this web page is sitting in a subdomain of a friend's website, which is why I tried to keep everything as compact as possible. Eventually it may have to move somewhere else, or if I feel I want to expand the site then I'll just have to get my own domain and web space. Some who read this page know who I am personally or from various message boards on the Internet, such of you know how to reach me but those who don't can email me below.
I hope you appreciate the time and effort it has taken to gather and transfer all this material into quality, sizeable MP3 files AND to upload them onto the web server. Most of all I hope you appreciate the intellectual quality of the actual lectures themselves (something I find to be getting rarer these days) and the effort and contribution Dr Gary Miller has made to the Islamic Dialogue, so I am greatly indebted to him and may God reward him for his contributions.
From time to time I will update this page with new material or anything else I find appropriate, so keep an eye out or get in touch if you want to know what's going on.
I'd like to leave you, be you Muslim, Christian or neither, with the following words from one of Gary Miller's lectures: "If it's the truth, then it will work for you and not for anybody else, if your mind is clear".
